A serious road collision on the R132 in County Meath, Ireland, has prompted an emergency response, with one man reportedly in critical condition in hospital.
According to the latest information available, the incident occurred in the Smithstown area of Julianstown during the early hours of Saturday. Gardaí said the incident involved two separate collisions involving three cars.
The initial crash reportedly happened at approximately 2:06 a.m., when two cars travelling southbound toward Dublin collided. Both drivers, who were men in their 50s, initially appeared uninjured and moved their vehicles to the roadside. About 10 minutes later, a third car struck the rear of one of the vehicles while one of the original drivers was standing behind it.
That man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he remains in critical condition, according to the latest report. The driver of the third vehicle, a man in his 40s, was not injured.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and are particularly seeking anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area between approximately 1:20 a.m. and 2:20 a.m.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution in the area and follow Garda directions while the investigation continues.
