A late-night gathering in Hartford turned deadly early Sunday morning when gunfire erupted near the SoulBaila nightclub on Wethersfield Avenue, leaving one person dead and four others wounded.
The shooting happened at approximately 1:40 a.m. Sunday, August 16, 2026, in the 700 block of Wethersfield Avenue, according to the Hartford Police Department. Officers responding to the area found a large crowd and an unresponsive gunshot victim. Emergency medical personnel pronounced that person dead at the scene.
The location was near SoulBaila, at 735–737 Wethersfield Avenue. Police said four additional victims later arrived at area hospitals after being wounded in the shooting. The victims included a woman, two men in their 30s and a man in his 20s. One of the men in his 30s was reported to be in critical condition, while the other victims were described as stable.
The circumstances that led to the gunfire remain under investigation. Police had not announced an arrest in the reports available, and authorities were continuing to work to determine what happened before the shooting.
