Devin M. Rowland lived a life marked by service, family and the ability to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. The Lockport, New York, community is mourning his passing on August 15, 2026, at the age of 36.

Born August 8, 1990, in Newfane, New York, Devin was the beloved son of Lorie (Donald) Niethe and Christopher (Kathy) Rowland. Family and friends remained central to his life, and those who knew him remembered him as a natural jokester who could brighten a room and make people laugh.

Devin also dedicated an important part of his life to serving his country and community as an Officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). His career reflected a commitment to responsibility and protecting others, and his service will remain an important part of the legacy he leaves behind.

He enjoyed playing sports and sharing good times with the people closest to him. His father, Christopher Rowland, preceded him in death.

Among those grieving is Devin’s twin brother, Steven Rowland. Their lifelong bond represented a connection shaped by growing up together and sharing countless experiences.

Friends and relatives will remember Devin, affectionately known as “D,” through the stories, laughter and everyday moments that now hold special meaning. His kindness, humor and dedication will continue through the memories shared by those who loved him.

Visitation will be held at Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc., 2670 Main Street, Newfane, NY, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who knew Devin to honor his memory through acts of kindness and service to others.

His life may have ended too soon, but his service, laughter and memory will remain deeply woven into the lives of those who loved him.
