Wilder William Seeburger was remembered by those closest to him as a loving son, cousin and friend whose life brought meaning and joy to the people around him. His death at just 17 has left his family, classmates and wider Traverse City community facing an unimaginable loss.
Wilder died on August 16, 2026, following a head-on vehicle collision on Center Road on Old Mission Peninsula. According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. between Mapleton and Smokey Hollow Road. Authorities said a southbound Ford F-250 crossed the centerline and struck the Honda CR-V Wilder was driving.
Traverse City Central High School confirmed that Wilder was the student who died in the crash. His family described him as their “beautiful boy” and emphasized the love he shared with those around him. Wilder was the only son of his mother, Felicia Topp, who described him as her entire world.
The collision also seriously injured the 22-year-old driver of the Ford, who was taken to Munson Hospital. Authorities said alcohol is believed to have been involved, although the investigation remains ongoing and further circumstances have not been released.
Wilder’s sudden death has deeply affected his classmates and friends. Central High School has announced that mental health professionals will be available to support students and staff during registration.

Though Wilder’s life ended far too soon, the love expressed by his family and friends reflects the lasting place he holds in their hearts. His memory will continue through the stories, photographs and moments shared by everyone who loved him.
