The memory of three young children continues to live on in Duxbury, Massachusetts, where a new memorial playground has become a place of love, remembrance and community support.
Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy are being honored through the Clancy Family Playground at Wadsworth Field Park. Cora was 5, Dawson was 3 and Callan was 8 months old. Their memory has brought together hundreds of volunteers who helped create a lasting tribute to the children.
The playground was completed in four days, with their father, Patrick Clancy, among those involved in the project. Every part of the space carries a personal connection to the children and the things they enjoyed.
A toddler play area honors baby Callan, while a purple play structure reflects Cora’s favorite color and her love of Princess Sofia. Dawson is remembered through a firefighter-themed feature inspired by his admiration for first responders.
Three trees were planted in the children’s memory, while angel wings incorporated into the shade structures add another meaningful reminder of their lives.
A particularly touching feature is a panel displaying Cora’s farewell message: “Thank you for a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” The words offer visitors a glimpse of the joy and innocence associated with her memory.
The project was organized through the HEARD Foundation, co-founded by Patrick Clancy, and also carries a broader message about perinatal mental health and the importance of support for families.
The memorial playground is more than a place for children to play. It is a community expression of love, remembrance and compassion.
Through this lasting tribute, Cora, Dawson and Callan’s memories remain part of the Duxbury community, offering future generations a place to gather while ensuring their young lives are never forgotten.
