Frankston, Victoria: Two women were allegedly stabbed in separate incidents in Frankston, Victoria, within about 24 hours, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of a 27-year-old man.

The first alleged attack occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday on Young Street. Police said a 53-year-old woman from Skye was attacked from behind with a sharp object. She suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A second incident was reported at approximately 7:45 a.m. Monday on Playne Street. A 29-year-old woman from Western Australia was allegedly approached from behind before being stabbed and having her bag and phone stolen. She was also taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Following the second reported attack, Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 27-year-old man with no fixed address on Ross Smith Avenue East. Police are expected to interview him in connection with the two incidents.

At this stage, the man has been arrested in connection with the allegations, but an arrest does not establish guilt. The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have not publicly released the full circumstances surrounding the alleged attacks or confirmed whether the two incidents were connected beyond the reported police investigation.

The incidents have understandably caused concern in the Frankston community, particularly because both women were reportedly attacked from behind.

Police are continuing their inquiries as detectives work to establish exactly what happened. Further information, including any potential charges, is expected as the investigation progresses.

Note: Reports describing the arrested man as a “migrant” or “homeless migrant” should not be treated as established facts unless Victoria Police officially confirms those details.
