Jeremy Jenkins and his wife, Brandy, were remembered not simply for the positions they held, but for the lives they touched through education, athletics, friendship and family. Their sudden deaths have left the East Bernard, Texas, community facing a profound loss.
The couple died Saturday night, August 15, 2026, in a vehicle crash on Texas 60 near County Road 210 in Wharton County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Jeremy, 51, was driving a 2025 Tesla Model Y when it left the roadway while approaching a curve and overturned. Jeremy and Brandy, 46, were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
Jeremy served as athletic director and head football coach at East Bernard ISD. He was preparing for his third season with the Brahmas after guiding the program to a 20–7 record during his first two seasons and a Class 3A Division II state semifinal appearance in 2025.
Brandy had recently joined the district as a junior high teacher. Superintendent Courtney Hudgins said her students quickly developed a strong affection for her.
The couple leaves behind three sons, Tyson, Gage and Jake. The district has arranged counseling and support services for students and staff.
Their deaths have created a painful void in East Bernard, but their influence will remain in the students they encouraged, the athletes Jeremy coached and the community they served.
Jeremy and Brandy will be remembered for their dedication, compassion and commitment to others. Their lives ended far too soon, but the love they gave their family and community will not be forgotten.
